This may be the cutest ad I’ve ever seen… albeit one that urges people to save water by urinating in the shower. Kill two birds with one stone, or something like that. Also a cool website.

Tim Hodge says:

George Costanza could be their spokesperson.

Iain says:

It’s message actually kind of makes sense.

Doofus says:

That’s awesome! And hilarious! Haha!

Charlie says:

You mean, people don’t?

Desiree C says:

The character designs and animation for this were done by my friend and classmate Bianca Beneduci from Vancouver Film School, she has some of the designs posted on her blog and a fantastic student film, anyone who likes this short should check it out!
Great job B!

Hate to admit I did so last night while taking a cool shower to ease my feverish pain! Glad to see I’m not the only one.

It always amazes me when people think that peeing in the shower is gross. I mean, come on, there’s running water that washes it all away, and fresh pee is completely sterile unless you have an active urinary tract infection. As long as you pee at the beginning of the shower and get it reasonably close to the drain, only the completely squeamish should have a problem with it.

Similarly, I hate how people don’t want to drink recycled sewage water. Hello, but ALL the water on this planet is recycled. There isn’t a single drop of water on Earth which hasn’t at one time been part of dinosaur wee or mixed with it. It’s not like water is permanently tainted with the character of whatever has touched it (as much as homeopaths would like you to believe it is).

JG says:

Hehehe, nice ad.
Peeing in the shower is a perfectly rational thing to do. Imagine just how much water you save.

(Don’t try to extent the logic to peeing in the bathtub. It doesn’t work that way.)

Annie says:

Like the use of silhouette, BUT! Do you really want to condition ppl (esp. kids) to PEEING when they feel the spray of the shower on them or plop into the tub? That’s gonna produce a lot of kids peeing in the pool, public showers, etc…

And the follow-up has to be: PEE OUTDOORS! EVERYONE!

Your tag says it all: BAD idea!

08/8/09  10:35am
Steve says:

George: Its all pipes whats the difference …
Elaine: different pipes go to different places youre gonna mix them up George: Ill call a plumber right now …
Jerry: All right could we just drop all the pee pipe stuff here

Chris Sobieniak says:

Still didn’t seem that bad an idea to me, though the use of characters and scenarios in this get kinda silly after a while, it’s not too hard to spot the celebrities being spoofed here.

David Breneman says:

Like Chuck Heston famously said, “Every man pisses in his yard.”

08/8/09  2:02pm

I agree with Annie! To me it’s a gross idea, so the place where you clean and wash yourself becomes a big toilet!
Imagine washing your hands and face in the toilet. I don’t want to use a shower or bathtub where someone else pissed in it before!>.<

The video itself is really nice!:)

good idea says:

Why is this a bad idea? (as you’ve tagged the post)
Great design, fun animation, a sensible conservation psa… two thumbs up here.

Thad says:

But don’t whiz on the electric fence!

08/9/09  9:14am
Titanius Anglesmith, Fancy Man of Cornwood says:

And don’t eat the yellow snow. But those are PSAs for another day.

08/9/09  11:04am

It doesn’t make sense because, unless you pee in less than 5 seconds, you’re going to waste MORE water through the shower, than the water used in a toilet discharge.

Ditto for the people who shave and/or brush their teeth in the shower.

It would be better to install special toilets that have two different sets of discharge: 3 liters for #1, and 10 liters for #2.

08/9/09  11:05am

But the animation was awesome, though :)

Micturator 5000 says:

I agree with red pill junkie, unless you’re multitasking while peeing, instead of just standing there, you’re probably using more water than a modern toilet does to flush. If you really want to save water you should pee outside.

08/10/09  11:13am
Steve Gattuso says:

“If it’s yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down.”

08/10/09  8:23pm
Micturator 5000 says:

@Steve: Well, or that. For the less adventurous, anyway.

08/10/09  9:27pm
fluffy says:

Modern shower heads take 1.5 gallons per minute. A toilet takes 1.5 gallons in just a few seconds. Most people don’t take a whole minute to pee. Standing around in the water stream at least helps you to get clean.

If you want to be ultra-efficient you could just pee *into* the shower while the water is warming up, which is a time when most people aren’t even in the shower at all. (That is, incidentally, the time I use to pee.)

08/11/09  2:05am
Adam says:

“Do you really want to condition ppl (esp. kids) to PEEING when they feel the spray of the shower on them or plop into the tub? That’s gonna produce a lot of kids peeing in the pool, public showers, etc…”

It’s not really hard to teach people, especially kids, that those places are not appropriate for peeing.

This is a good thing that conserves water. And if you’re busy lathering up your hair or something already, there’s no reason not to.

09/2/09  11:01am
Kyle says:

But you go to the toilet more often than you go to the shower. What we do is collect water in a bucket (from showers, from the washing machine, from the sink ect) and keep a bucket next to the toilet. Pouring a half-bucket of water into the toilet has the same effect as flushing.
