Here’s a well designed spot for a Midwest moving company called Fry-Wagner. It was animated by Aaron Wendel, who has also made some interesting experimental shorts like Bric-a-Brac and Dwellings. 4 Comments » posted in Advertising, Aaron Wendel January 30, 2011 4:00 pm
Dig the loopy, fun animation in this 1983 commercial for Milk. As far I know this never aired in the states — and it may have the distinction of being the last Popeye animation ever voiced by Jack Mercer and Mae Questel: While we’re at it, check this recent commercial for “Popeye-flavored Milk” (“Popeye-flavored”?) from Syria. Popeye goes all “Matrix” on Bluto in this one: (Thanks, Fred G.) 18 Comments » posted in Advertising, popeye January 19, 2011 7:30 am
TCM also ran this trailer last night which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. (If I have I’m getting old and have completely blocked it.) It’s a clever coming-attractions piece for the Blake Edwards Pink Panther sequel, A Shot In the Dark (1964). It’s notable for containing a fair amount of animation featuring a narrator, “Dum-Dum” a talking bullet, voiced by Mel Blanc. It was no doubt animated by DePatie Freleng. 16 Comments » posted in Advertising, DePatie-Freleng January 10, 2011 11:15 am
An incredible new Intel spot by animators Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes (This Way Up) for U.K.’s Nexus Productions. You Tube embed below, nicer hi-rez version here. 9 Comments » posted in Advertising, Smith & Foulkes December 29, 2010 7:00 pm
Ever wonder what a 1965 Bugs Bunny cartoon directed by Tex Avery and animated by Rod Scribner might be like? By 1965, Warner’s had let the original animation studio go and was sub contracting low budget Looney Tunes work to DePatie-Freleng. Bugs Bunny’s papa, Avery, and his looniest animator, Scribner, had moved on to the greener pastures of TV commercials. As fate would have it, Avery’s studio wound up with the job of creating a series of Bugs Bunny Kool-Aid spots and Scribner animated many of them. I found this black & white one on one of my old reels (a washed-out color version is also on You Tube) and think its worth a look. Yes, that’s Paul Frees as the Judge and Hal Smith as Elmer. 46 Comments » posted in Advertising, Bugs Bunny, Kool Aid, Rod Scribner, Tex Avery November 30, 2010 1:30 am
Sydney, Australia-based Kapow Pictures wrapped a series of five spots for the Financial Review. The handsome Catch Me If You Can-styled spots were created in After Effects. Here’s something for the furries. A sequel to a 2007 Orangina ad campaign which apparently was quite a success… Agency: Fred & Farid, Paris (Thanks, Jim Lahue) 44 Comments » posted in Advertising, Orangina November 26, 2010 2:30 pm
Check out this exquisite promo for a William Joyce’s The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore: I’m not sure if this is a trailer for a longer film, or simply a part of the installation Joyce’s Moonbot Studios created for ArtSpace in Shreveport, Louisana. According to the website, the project is…
The exhibit runs through January 29th and is free. For more information click here. (Thanks, David Cowles) |
