I loved the 90s miniseries as a kid!
Miyazaki always seems to like the same things as me.. Anne of Green Gables, Heidi, Pippi Longstocking… TOTORO! :)

It’s also, perhaps more importantly, also co-written by Miyazaki Hayao, from memory, of a novel he last read over a decade ago, relocated to contemporary Japan – all of which suggests that it’s going to be a stretch to describe it as an adaptation. But unlike Whisper of the Heart the storyboards (of which there are a few examples either those or image boards at GhibliWorld.com) are by the director rather than him.

The Borrowers books helped to inspire John Peterson’s books about the Littles, later a TV series. The first Borrowers adaptation was Hallmark Hall of Fame from ‘73 (Eddie Albert, etc.) and there were also a couple mini-series (TNT & BBC) in the 90s (comic Richard Lewis hosted the
US presentatons) and finally the 97 film with Goodman (also featured
Hugh “House” Laurie and about 3 actors who would later be in the Harry Potter films.

Many of the comments on YouTube’s clips of that film revolve around how cute Tom Felton (then a preteen) was.

I think Donovan Freberg
did a voice for The Littles.

I wonder if Disney would. This is their first opportunity to release a non-Miyazaki, first-run Studio Ghibli movie in North American theatres, as legal restrictions prevented them from doing so with Earthsea.
