Tweety

Seeing this out-of-character Tweety-as-Kiss-member shirt at Uniqlo made me long for the days when the worst that WB did was dress up their characters in hip-hop outfits.

Meaningless curmudgeonliness.

Really? You couldn’t think of anything better to complain about? I think you’re losing your touch, Amid.

At least the drawing is kind of cute.

That hip-hop garbed pic actually makes me feel better about the new series squat designs. I just hate the mentality that says you have to dress up characters in what the kids are wearing in order to make them relevant.

Kiss/Tweety is neat!

*gulp*

I’m pretty sure I had a hip-hop Looney Tunes t-shirt back in middle school. The front of the tee had all the characters posing in baggy clothes. The reverse side of the tee was a view of the back of the characters.

JP– Hahaha, I had something similar, too. Since I asked in general for just Looney Tunes stuff for a few Christmases in a row, and I was a kid in the ’90s, it was pretty inevitable to end up with some occasional hip-hop Looney Toones merch.

This actually could be worse. I’m pretty baffled, though, by the idea. Mostly because I had no idea KiSS was cool with the kiddos nowadays.

The Looney Tunes have always made references to other forms of pop-culture. People seem to forget Tweety is supposed to be a cute little bird with a vindictive murderous nature for bashing puddy tats with giant mallets. I think the overly feminine baby pink Tweety T-shirts are much more out of character than this.

Oh, and my favorite Looney Tunes T-Shirt of all time is the one where they are the Addams Family!

Everyone should be aware that UNIQLO is a Japanese-based store (we use to go shopping there in Sendai all the time) and that the Japanese are infamous for their ridiculous appropriation and interpretation of English/American words, characters and symbols (marijuana leaves on a toddlers jumper).

This is just another example of some classic Japanese attire.

The shirt’s probably shooting for nostalgia for the older set anyway than anyone younger, but then I kept thinking of this shirt working perfectly 30 years ago if they have had used these characters for it (or illegitimately).

I had one of those hip-hop shirts too. Reminding myself of the back of it where it was obvious Bugs and Taz had to wear their jeans backwards so that the tail came out of the fly (why they couldn’t just simply wear their jeans normally and have the tails come out of a supposed hole/slit is beyond me).

SLIPKNOT Tweety. HOSTEL Tweety.

I would rather havin’ the Looney Tunes in Rave outfits than all that rock and hiphop stuff. Suits their exstatic personalities better.

Don’t forget about how ICEBERG JEANS slapped Looney Tunes characters on their $200-plus jeans, $300-plus jean jackets, etc. Some of those designs were pretty funny and extravagant. Thanks to Century 21 I have a few choice T’s.

I think the Paul Stanley/Tweety is adorable (though not as bad-ass as Felix the Cat as all four members of Kiss [ http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61Zk08D6DlL._SL500_AA300_.gif ]), but the overall T-shirt design is atrocious. It looks like cartoon profanity to me; I can’t tell if it says ‘F Tweety’ or ‘FTW’ but no sir, I don’t like it.
