Two Guys Named Joe by John Canemaker

Two Guys Named Joe

John Canemaker‘s next book is available for pre-order on Amazon. Two Guys Named Joe: Master Animation Storytellers Joe Grant and Joe Ranft will be released in August 2010. John gave me a preview of the book a couple months back. It is an intimate look at the accomplishments and struggles (both personal and professional) of two animation giants. If you think you already know these guys, you’re going to be in for a surprise. Needless to say, it’s guaranteed to be one of the must-haves of next year.

i’m putting this one on my shelf, right next to bill peet’s autobiography.

  • Lucky me. I had the pleasure of working with both these guys. One had a rich full life, and the other departed much too soon.

  • I’ll be sure to buy it when it comes out.

I’ve had a glimpse as well and it’s definitely one of the very best books a story artist (or any artist come to that) could wish for. A great idea and the perfect person to execute it. I only hope it arrives sooner rather than later.

Dammit, we have to wait almost an entire YEAR for this book?! Write faster, John, write faster!

  • both Joes are fantastic! This is sure to be a good book.

  • Joe and Joe by John is a must buy for me – I just know it’ll be a fascinating read with Mr Canemaker’s sensibilities at the helm!

Off topic I know, but The Art of Kung Fu Panda is back in stock (temporarily?) on and for 34% off the list price and free shipping. I thought for sure this was out of print as I’ve seen the prices for secondhand copies of the book skyrocket. Jerry, if you’re reading can you perhaps give some info on why your Richie Rich book went OOP so fast?
