The Ballad of Holland Island House is made with a clay-painting technique in which a thin layer of oil-based clay comes to life frame by frame. Animator Lynn Tomlinson tells the true story of the last house on a sinking island in the Chesapeake Bay. In a music ballad, the house sings of its life and the creatures it has sheltered during its lifetime journey from tree to timber to home to an ultimate return to nature. This film contemplates time, environmental change, and the rise of the seas. Music by Anna and Elizabeth.
