More Blair swipes
August 3, 2008 12:05 am
The Preston Blair rip-offs never end. Mark Kausler sent us this 78rpm kiddie record cover, which proves the swiping began a lot earlier than i’d imagined:
Christian Geoghegan, on a trip to Belgium, photographed this from the window of one of the trams he took in Antwerp. The van is for a local supermarket.
If you spot a Blair swipe in your travels, we invite you to send it in. |
I don’t know why, but these rip-offs never stop amusing!
This horrid thing was spotted outside a butchers on the Rue Du Commandant André in Cannes: http://i36.tinypic.com/2ltpx11.jpg . Look at how they’ve been unable to twist the hand around properly – talk about ham-fisted! (Sorry.)
Why are those people doing this??!! Ugh! I hate seeing the originals get horribly redrawn. It feels so wrong, like someone just brutally killed a baby!
There’s no end to how far Preston Blair’s artistry can be seen from all four corners of the globe.
“just brutally killed a baby?”
Composure, people. Take a deep breath. Actually, that elephant on the circus record is not half-bad. Probably the most nicely-rendered Blair swipe I’ve seen. I wonder how many Blair rip-offs are drawn by 10-year-olds, saving a buck or two for the family business.
