The latest music video for the French pop group, The Betwitched Hands, is a psychedelic a love story; “a metaphor for two people who miss each other”. It’s co-directed by graphic artist Sanghon Kim and Paris studio Machine Molle, in a mix of animation technics including traditional hand drawn and CG animation. And the song is catchy, too: 2 Comments » posted in Music Videos, Machine molle, Sanghon Kim June 26, 2011 2:04 pm
Zoetrope-inspired animation techniques have made a big comeback this year. It’s a flexible technique that allows for many creative interpretations, as evidenced in this music video for The Weekend People’s single, “We Are Police.” The directors are Melbourne, Australia-based Sarah Phillips and Lachlan Dean. Phillips tells me that, “The music video was made using a record player and was made with no budget—even the record player was found as rubbish on the sidewalk.” 3 Comments » posted in Experimental, Music Videos, Australia, Lachlan Dean, Sarah Phillips, Zoetrope June 19, 2011 12:05 am
What have The Archies and Gorillaz spawned now? Not sure who is behind this music video by Studio Killers, but lead singer “Cherry” is hot. Ode To The Bouncer is the first single from the mysterious UK virtual pop group. If anyone knows the artisans behind this piece, the info will be much appreciated. Very cool, very violent, must-see music video for London based indie band, Is Tropical. Not for kids. Credits: (Thanks, Peter Avanzino) 23 Comments » posted in Music Videos, Machine molle June 15, 2011 12:25 pm
Reuben Sutherland, whose zoetrope music LP appeared on the Brew a few months back, recently directed this music video for Seasick Steve’s “You Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks.” Sutherland has packed the video with weird and funny imagery, and his rhythmic repetition of visual elements and handheld camera effects nicely match the energy of the song. Striking mixture of stop motion imagery and experimental techniques in “Second Song,” a music video for TV On The Radio. The director is Michael Please whose Royal College of Art graduation short The Eagleman Stag was awarded a “special distinction for student film” at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this weekend. The short also won the BAFTA earlier this year. Video credits after the jump. 5 Comments » posted in Experimental, Music Videos, Stop Motion, Michael Please, UK June 9, 2011 12:00 pm
