Homunculus by Sam Stephens

An animated short directed by Sam Stephens from Humble’s in-house directing collaborative Hydra. The film combines photography of decomposing fruit with CG characters on top. In the words of the filmmaker, Homunculus is:

Wow, impressive integration of CG into a live-action setting. The whole presentation is mesmerizing. Heh, I can’t remember when I last saw spontaneous generation used as a concept in modern film.

Nice work! There’s some fine animation, especially on the tall gray monster (meanster?). I quite like the sidestep approach to his victim at the 2:10 mark.
