This sounds like an absolute MUST-SEE!

I found ‘DroidMaker’ to be an extremely informative and entertaining book dealing with Pixar’s beginnings which sprouted from George Lucas and ILM… But I’m jonesin’ to find out what happened after Catmull, Lasseter, Smith, Jobs and co. actually broke-away to FORM Pixar!… The book pretty much ends after the gang decides to break-off on their own, although they DO stay on the ILM ‘campus?’ …very interesting! But alas, no New York or Philadelphia screenings of the film as of yet, i see. :( … The NYC animation nerds like myself will hafta’ wait!… I’m sure it’ll be worth it. :)

We love this doco! They played it at comic con and it was awesome!!

I hope this doco gets international distribution.

Pleasantville? Well, that might as well be California.

If in NY, it’d be great to see it at the Ziegfield. Just saw Blade Runner: The Final Cut there and it was amazing!

What’s the rational (if any) of putting it in the Oswald set?

It ain’t easy being an overnight success.

Like the Disney company, Pixar faced extinction several times in their history, but continued to reinvent itself in order to survive.

I was always a fan, and still have a Pixar coffee mug I picked up at a trade show over twenty years ago. I never dreamed of working for Pixar, or even meeting Steve Jobs. Fortunately for me, both dreams came true.

I got to see this wonderful film at Comic-Con this year, and encourage folks to go see it for themselves if it’s in your area.

I hope they play it again here in Chicago cause midweek at 12 and 2 isn’t possible for me. I really wanna see it. :(

I imagine the reason the Ub documentary is going on the Oswald set is because Ub and Walt started out in animation together, and this collection represents the earliest Disney work that has had an official release to date.

This is a wonderful documentary! I saw it when it played in Pasadena a little while back and I encourage everyone to go. It was really inspiring and it is good to remember that just because Pixar is a household name now, doesn’t mean it was always so. We all struggle to survive, even a successful entity like Pixar. It certainly made me feel better.

I’m in Seattle Nov. 1 for the 2Dornot2D Festival, so most likely will be checking out the film! Looking forward to it.

I caught it this afternoon. It’s a pleasant film, but if you’ve been following the published news about Pixar and its principals over the years it won’t have anything you haven’t heard before. Outside of a comment about Jeffrey Katzenberg that might be construed as negative, it only names people that it has good things to say about. ‘

That may well be an accurate account but as a film , even as a documentary, the element of drama in the telling of the story is lacking.

If you missed it in the theater, don’t feel bad, a DVD release will do it justice especially since so much of the footage is rather blurry NTSC video.
