Forgotten Flintstones on MySpace

flintstoneswelchade.jpg

Here is one of the best MySpace pages I have seen devoted to a classic cartoon series.

Forgotten Flintstones contains a lot of fun images, facts, sound bites, and video devoted to offbeat Flintstonia (is that even a word?). Classic toys, commercials, and in-depth profiles of supporting players—including Jay Bondrock, Ann-Margrock, Gary Granite, Rock Quarry, Hot Lips Hannigan, Professor Rockimoto, The Wayouts and Ed Sullystone.

What more can I say? Yabba Dabba Doo!

In addition to the great site, I also like how many of the “top Friends” are Flintstone characters as well. And minor characters to boot.

    Another enjoyable feature of Myspace.

Ah the Wayouts. From that episode where people though Fred was an alien.

“That’s where the fun is, WAYOUT!”

The only thing that I find fault with is the “Bedrock Treasures” DVD. Most of the material appears to come from Turner Home Video’s “First Thirteen Episodes” laserdisc produced by John K. All the menus use pictures right from the CAV supplement laserdisc, and I would bet dollars to donuts that John K’s “crappy Joe Rockhead” is there too…WB legal should be all over that one (or at least Earl Kress).

Shhhh…. I still need to get that disc! (typical fan-crave mentality I’ll never grow out of)

Great stuff! As a long time Flintstones fan, this was definitely a great find on your part, Jerry. Thanks!

Darn it, I wanted to get a copy of that DVD, it looked great! Apparently the guy running the site must’ve read Jerry’s review because it seems like maybe he got scared by Keith’s comments. Not only did the DVD page come down, but it seems he took down all mention of the DVD on all those Flintstones sites as well! Darnit…I wonder if I messaged him, if he’d be willing to sell me a copy.

I believe the proper term should be “Flintstoniana.” But what do I know?

    Sorry guys…

I spent $100 on the old box set when it was new, but making and selling your own bootleg from it is just wrong. I bought a used Japanese LD of Song Of The South because I won’t support it on a bootleg DVD. (I made several complaints to ebay over the past few months about them, and now they have virtually disappeared)

That’s ok Keith. I messaged the guy running the site and asked if he would make me a copy. He said that he never expected the free publicity Jerry gave him on Cartoon Brew and was scared into deleting the DVD site. However he will sell the disc for $20 for those interested who message him on that site. I wish I had the $100 to buy the laserdisc, plus a laserdisc player to watch it, but unfortunately I don’t.

I only wish I had an LD player when that came out. Nowadays that thing’ll probably go for half a grand I bet!

At least I still have my LD of that too (despite having oiginally got a pirated copy of the UK tape 11 years ago for $30 some dollars, I was a desperate college student then obviously, and just had to found someone in a message board who said he had it and went wtih it, despite the inferior quality contained).

I just got the DVD, and let me tell you it’s awesome! It includes all the laserdisc material, and it looks like it was captured at the highest quality possible! There are several commercials on here that look much better than what’s on the official season sets! 4 hrs of Flintstones extras that are classic! Why wasn’t all this material released on the season sets? I’m really glad I got this! Thanks for heads up to that site Jerry!
