Hallmark’s Cartoon Christmas

Holiday time is coming and that can only mean one thing: Hallmark is once again selling new Christmas ornaments based on classic cartoon characters! This year they have a nifty one (click thumbnails above) based on the Chuck Jones cartoon Rabbit Seasoning, as well as Tom & Jerry, Hanna Barbera’s The Jetsons, and The Flintstones and several other based around Peanuts, Jonny Quest, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Space Ghost and The Simpsons. • I can only imagine what your tree will look like this year…

  • John Stell

The “Rabbit Seasoning” ornament has some audio of the back-and-forth between Bugs and Daffy. Unfortunately, it’s not the original voices. The ornament looks nice, though.

  • Joe P. Doyle

You know, Jerry. I honestly would not have expected you to point out these Hallmark ornaments. I do not know why I would say that.

Nonetheless, I agree with you that these are fantastic and I have been gawking over them at my Hallmark Gold Crown stores. I even bought the Tom and Jerry one. The only thing I would have to say negative is that the “Rabbit Fire” ornament has a bad audio track which does not even try to capture the comic timing of the original gag. But, that’s a minor nitpick.

  • “Not the original voices” is an understatement WRT the Bugs and Daffy ornament. If the audio matches the sample on the Hallmark site (and I see no reason why it shouldn’t), I’d call it the poorest non-Blanc voices I’ve in fact ever heard for these characters, and that’s really saying something.

  • Brian D. Scot

“Babies and Kids”? Other than that, they all look good! I especially like the Jonny Quest and Space Ghost ornaments! Hallmark does make quality stuff – I have The Flash from a few years back.

  • Well, I can offer some inside scoop on the Tweety ornament. For some reason, my voice was not sped up in post. As many of you Looney Tunes fans know, several of the characters are sped up. And for those of you who didn’t know, many of Mel’s voices were sped as well. So what you hear on the Tweety ornament is my voice in real time. I’m bummed as well. The ornament is cute. I recorded this a couple of years ago and was really looking forward to the finished product. (sigh) Well, eh-thuh-the-eh-that’s show biz!
