Thurl, Thurl, Thurl

If you love old cartoons (or are simply addicted to Kellogg’s Sugar Frosted Flakes) then you have to admire the deep baritone voice of Thurl Ravenscroft (“You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”). Music historian Bob Purse has contributed a lengthy post on WFMU’s blog about his obsession with Thurl’s recording career – and posts many grrr-reat examples from his extensive collection. |
I’ve died and gone to audio heaven.
As a kid, a morning without Frosted Flakes or Froot Loops wasn’t a good morning… But I always prefered Tony’s commercials :)
I couldn’t find the Mr Grinch song though… He didn’t get any screen credit for it, but it was Thurl Ravenscroft who sang it! What a voice!
I’m trying to find these lyrics “Good Morning, Good Morning, a bright and cheery good morning. Lift your head up, pull the shade up. Start your day out with a song.” I’m told they were song by Tony the Tiger advertising cereal. Can you help ?
