Win a Woody – Contest CLOSED!
August 7, 2007 9:00 am
If you haven’t picked up your copy of the new Woody Woodpecker Classic Cartoon Collection, shame on you! Everyone reading Cartoon Brew should have this. This morning we had a contest and gave away three copies.
Answer the question below in our comments section and the first three correct answers will win the DVD collection.
Who was the original voice of Woody Woodpecker? (HINT: he was also Bugs Bunny, Barney Rubble and Pepe LePew)
CONTEST NOW CLOSED! We have our winners. Congratulations to Craig Davison, Kelly Kilmer and William Russo (MGH) for being the first to submit the correct answer (answer: Mel Blanc)!
Special Thanks to Universal Studios Home Entertainment for providing us with the prizes.

Mel Blanc was the original voice for Woody Woodpecker.
Was in Mel Blanc?
Mr. Mel Blanc, obviously
the great – Mel blanc
Mel actually talks about this in his book “That’s Not All Folks” which is an amazing read. From what I recall, he’d come up with Woody’s laugh when he was a kid- I think he talked about doing the laugh repeatedly while running down the halls at school! What a guy :)
Think that question was, like, too easy?
Ugh- I hate my computer right now- I submitted quickly and thud. Congrats to the winnahs!
Oh come on. No single person can do 4 cartoon characters.
New question!
:-)
The immature side of me wanted that title to say “get a Woody” instead. Titter!
I thought Tom Hanks was the voice of Woody.
Funny how Tom Hanks’ Woody also has a pal called Andy and a friendly rival named Buzz.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the original voice of Woody.
Could you please make the question harder next time? I was fast, but my computer couldn’t keep up with me. With such an easy question we all had today EVERYONE with the fastest broadband connections were able to latch on to it first. With a more difficult trivia next time, everybody would take more time to think a little harder where things might be more evened out. Of course you didn’t have to do this at all, thank you. And congratulations to Craig and the other two victors!
I actually went out and bought both the Popeye and Woody Woodpecker DVDs. No freebees for me, no sir.
It just occurred to me that I should stop by to thank Jerry, Universal Home Video (and my High-Speed Internet Service Provider!) for the generous prize!
So, “THANKS” says I.
And thanks, too, to Bryan for his gracious congratulations. Maybe next time will be your time to shine, buddy!

EVERYONE did not win. Three people won. And if you morally disagree with contests, then don’t post on this thread.
