…and yet these two have never looked more bored in their entire lives.

  • Adam

…and they were worth the wait, you li’l whippersnapper!
What am I talking about, Dennis is easily 20 years older than me.

  • Chris Sobieniak

Why did I see that coming? :-)

  • Christopher Cook

Network cartoons came on Saturdays only but even back when Mr. Mitchell (Dennis’ dad) was presumably a kid, there were cartoons in syndication.

    Less was more.

At least in the eighties we had a MGM/Warners/Depatie block every time you turned on a Turner station.

    “…and only on three channels…”

And a Bugs Bunny program was guaranteed to be on one of them…

Why does Joey look like Hitler? :-)

  • Gerard de Souza

I’m so glad cartoons were shown mostly on Saturdays otherwise I’d be playing sick and hookey everyday, no kiddin’.

  • Adam

    Keith,
That’s his philtrum. It’s been prominently featured in recent years for some reason.
The only reason I responded to your comment is because I like showing off the fact that I can use the word “philtrum” in everyday conversation.

Actually, Dennis’ dad had it better. Cause there were GOOD cartoons when “he” was a kid.
I feel sorry for the kids today.

  • Keith Paynter

Adam – like Reader’s Digest always said, “it pays to increase your word power!”

    Brandon Pierce: No there weren’t!

Gertie the Dinosaur was the only good animation. Everything after that is just a Winsor McCay rip-off.

Also, back then Dennis The Menace wasn’t quite the humourless, soul sucking experience it has been for my tenure on the planet.

  • John A

When I was a kid I preferred the Dennis the Menace comic books over the daily and Sunday comic strip.

Funny that, all this cartoons on telly stuff. To my surprise, Danger Mouse and Top Cat are being aired on BBC2 every weekday morning at 11 at the moment. This is the first time I’ve seen a cartoon older than 5 years old on the TV since I un-subscribed to Sky.

You should be proud of yourself! At least some channel over there cares to do that, and over the terrestrial airwaves no less (stations wouldn’t be caught dead doing that again over here).
