Thankful for spirited debates on the merits of certain types of animation, character design, creative approaches, story, etc. An indication that people/animators care!

I’m thankful that I get to work in a profession that I love with people that inspire me daily. Oh, and for Take 5’s – the best candy bar on Earth!

Chris Sobieniak says:

Well, I can’t say comic books for one thing! Nobody hardly sells ‘em, and when I do get around buying an issue, I often felt like it wasn’t worth the glossy paper it’s printed on.

No, I’m thankful for my uninsured health!

Brian says:

I’m thankful that traditional and stop-motion animation weren’t killed off by the CG animation dreck (except you Pixar) that continues to plague the industry.

Ron says:

I’m thankful for Jerry’s ability to always answer my cartoon History questions. As a matter of fact, I have one now.

Jerry, everybody knows that Carl Barks drew the Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics…and I’m assuming he also drew the cover pictured above. But who drew the Bugs Bunny comics? Just like Barks with Disney, that artist seemed to have a distinctive style and his own unique take on the WB characters. Please shed some light.

Jerry Beck says:

Ron – I believe that cover is the work of Ralph Heimdahl.

Robert Barker says:

I’m thankful that all the Fleischer Popeyes made it out on DVD before the bottom fell out of the economy.

I’m thankful for the usual life stuff, and for the the internet, which offers endless hours of every kind of animation on tap, stuff that just a few years ago was unattainably obscure.

I’m thankful for an animation website like this that keeps us abreast of all the good stuff and the ‘turkeys’!

The visuals you’ve chosen are great examples of WB vs Disney, WB has no problem with animals eating fellow animals, while Disney’s characters always peacefully co-exist.

I think WB is a truer reflection of reality.

G Melissa Graziano says:

I’m grateful for animation. If not for animation, I wouldn’t have met the people I have, including my husband and many of my best friends! If not for animation, I would probably be an art teacher somewhere, still struggling to figure out which art I wanted to “settle” with.

And I am also thankful for Cartoon Brew and all the positive things that have come from it. :)

Art Binninger says:

I’m thankful that through efforts of Jerry and others, I can have a plethora of Thanksgiving-themed cartoons to watch on DVD and VHS.
Titles such as Do or Diet, Jerky Turkey, Pilgrim Porky, The Voice Of The Turkey, Holiday For Drumsticks and others to satisfy my Cartoon-ivorous cravings. And for all you baby-boom New Yorkers, ya gotta watch Gulliver’s Travels and March Of The Wooden Soldiers today too!
