Few folks ever earned the monicker of Michelangelo in their given field, but Milt Kahl is a worthy recipient- he orchestrated some of the finest scenes Disney ever offered up!

  • Tim

awesome! this should be great! :)

  • g man

The Academy should stream these events live over the internet for people that aren’t in L.A. I would gladly pay $5 to watch it live from my computer!

  • Mark K.

I’m glad Brad Bird is going to be there. He knows more about Milt than any other animator alive.

  • Thad

Well, if any animator deserves that title, it’s probably Kahl.

  • Jason

And it’s great Floyd will be there too. Maybe he’ll give us a description of the event next time he visits here.

  • Tim Hodge

This should be a real treat. I wish I could go.
About 20 years ago, I was able to attend a Milt Kahl tribute at the Animation Celebration Film Festival (at the Nuart). Andreas Deja and Marc Davis hosted the event. It was just a year or so after Milt died, so there was a bit of poignancy to the evening.

  • Nick

    I’m already there.

  • Nic Kramer

Little known fact: Milt did the voice of young Ferdinand in “Ferdinand the Bull” (1938).

  • Russell

    Goddamnit I wish I lived over there….

  • gman

Of course Dick Williams should be part of that panel.

  • I can’t wait. I already bought the tickets.

  • I’m there! Thanks Jerry for the info.

  • Andy

I’m there too. Kahl always seemed to get the thankless, un-showy jobs, but always did marvelous, amazing work. Peter Pan and Shere Khan. ‘Nuff said.

They ended up overselling the show, so a lot of us ended who showed up early, ended up getting turned away even after we purchased tickets in advance.

I can’t believe how disorganized they were.

  • I was kinda bummed that Andreas got his seat swiped by somebody else (some student whos name escapes me). Otherwise it was pretty awesome
