Thank you for such a lucsious article…and great pics! When my parents took me to Disney for the first time (1971) as my graduation gift—they were quite astounded that i (already) knew where EVERYthing was….thanx to this great tv show! (Its famous TV intro was “the map,” of course!)
Does anyone know who did the toons in this picture?
On a (semi) related note .. I noticed earlier this week that the “The Disney Channel” logo has been removed from the top of the green & white skyscraper in southwest Burbank. I’m kinda sorry to see it go .. even though I haven’t actually watched the Disney Channel with any regularity since the early-1990’s.
You know; when it was actually a channel worth paying to watch.
Interesting article. One thing that stood out what that he wasn’t interested in syndication – something that seems to have been the holy grail for anyone in television, and still it. Perhaps it was different in those earlier days. It could be seen as megalomania I guess but, when it comes to creative work, putting control before money is something I admire.

Maybe they’re going to rebrand it to fit their current line of programming–the Teenybopper Channel.
