G-Force trailer

Silly me! I thought the forthcoming live action G-Force film from Disney was an adaptation of of the anime series Battle of the Planets. Instead it’s another hybrid live action/CG talking animals movie – but this time it looks pretty funny!

I’m just glad I don’t have kids, so I never have to see this crap.

Fantomex says:

And us big kids, as well as those families that this movie is made for, are glad we don’t have to see your sorry-ass face at the theater.

Malcolm Thomas says:

I couldn’t agree more with that last line in the trailer.

John S says:

Louden Wainwright!!!

Baron Lego says:

It’s like “Cats & Dogs” combined with those Blockbuster Video commercials featuring the CGI guinea pig. And I’m not saying that’s a good thing, by any stretch.

Ted says:

G-Force was not an adaptation of Battle of the Planets; it was a parallel adaptation (7 years after BOTP) of the same underlying material (Gatchaman), tho Sandy Frank was involved in both. Then there was Eagle Riders, another parallel adaptation, but of Gatchaman II and Gatchaman F instead of Gatchaman.

Zach Galifianakis and Will Arnett? Sign me up!

Elliot Cowan says:
12/31/08  3:05pm

This is going to be even better than Delgo.
I’m really looking forward to it.

PJ says:

I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to suggest that anyone who has not seen the two-part episode of South Park called “Pandemic” Googles it and watches it right now.

Far better and more imaginative use of guinea pigs than this.

Andrew says:
12/31/08  3:16pm

Why would they call it G-force if everyone will mistake it for something else, only to be violently shocked when they find out it’s not?!

charles says:
12/31/08  3:54pm

I’d like to meet the kind of people who would write such a script. And then the people who liked it so much that they thought millions of dollars should be invested in it. I just don’t get where this kind of thing comes from.

Marc Baker says:
12/31/08  4:24pm

No thanks. This is one movie i plan to avoid in 2009! Even if these animals were dressed in the Gatchaman bird suits, i still wouldn’t see this trash! Clearly, Jerry Bruckhimer is a big hack, and this movie proves it!

Gobo says:
12/31/08  4:38pm

The mole’s voiced by Nicholas Cage? It sounds nothing like him at all!

Anime says:
12/31/08  4:47pm

It insults not only the fans, but the Japanese who made the anime as well.

Frank says:
12/31/08  5:46pm

The blackface guinea pig played by Tracy Morgan made me laugh. Ha. Funny. Ha.

Tom Pope says:
12/31/08  6:10pm

Jerry, you so cray-zee!

sean w says:
12/31/08  7:18pm

OW! MY EYES!!!

crime against nature, indeed!

Ted says:
12/31/08  10:43pm

It doesn’t insult the Japanese who made the anime; G-Force was not the Japanese name. If they called it Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman…
(And if the guinea pigs were in Gatchaman outfits, Tatsunoko dug that grave themselves with Gatchapin a couple of years ago, but that was turtles, not guinea pigs.)

Peter says:
12/31/08  11:38pm

Uh, when does it get funny?

Steve Gattuso says:
12/31/08  11:57pm

This may do for cavies what “Howard the Duck” did for waterfowl.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

TJR says:

No sir. I don’t like it.

German S. says:

I was so excited when I heard about this project because of the possible reinterpretations of yoshitaka amano’s designs (final fantasy designer). who would have thought that they would have been so liberal during the redesign phase!

Sam Filstrup says:

Who lets these ideas off the ground floor?

Mark Morgan says:

This is why Disney should not be allowed anywhere near live action! Or at the very least, should not be allowed around live action with CG animals. I will say it looks more appealing than that horrible Chihauhau movie they made, but that doesn’t mean it looks appealing.

In the end I kept thinking the same thing. This looks like the adventures of the Rescue Ranger’s stupid, uninteresting cousins. ‘Sigh’, oh for the days of Disney Afternoon. ‘Sniff’ I miss Goliath and the gang.

WHY DISNEY!!! WHY!!!

Cadychan says:
01/1/09  1:29pm

‘Looks pretty funny’? Sorry Jerry, but I’m definitely going to have to miss this one. =P

Jerry Beck says:

No one hates these hybrid films (Racing Stripes, Underdog, etc.) more than I, but this trailer seems to have a sense of humor I didn’t detect from those other films (maybe I’m wrong; you can’t really judge a flick like this from its trailer). Will Arnett is funny. When this thing comes out, if it sucks I’ll be the first to admit it.

As to why Disney would make this movie: just remember Beverly Hills Chihuahua made over 93 million in the U.S.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I say that the pencil animators who were fired by the mouse should demand their jobs back, and save us from this live action/CGI crap!

ITHIDET says:

In some cultures Guinea pigs are a delicacy. I wish i was among their number.

Rob says:
01/1/09  5:40pm

People are actually addicted to this stuff?

Sara says:
01/1/09  7:56pm

This movie has some awesome people in it. The cast is pretty ridiculous. Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Sam Rockwell, Bill Nighy?!

It can’t be all bad…

Don says:

I bet this will make a ton of money, and in a year or two we’ll be asking “why, Disney, why?” all over again. The answer will always be…. MONEY. c’mon 93 million dollars for beverly hills chihuahua, thats a no brainer, when is the sequel to that coming out. Truth is for every person on here that thinks this movie is dumb and stupid, there are probably 10 kids in school talking to their friends about the cool new movie called G-Force. I for one will probably be in the theaters with my little nephews who just want to have fun watching a movie not questioning why it was made.

Graham says:
01/2/09  12:37am

Sorry…the whole talking animals and pop music with hipster language thrown in is kinda not doing it for me.

Steve Segal says:
01/2/09  9:46am

I was pretty turned off by those “cute” critters, but it’s Disney’s first live film in 3D, I have to see it. Plus I got to work with directer Hoyt Yeatman years ago when he ran DeamQuest. Early in his carreer he made a really funny parody of Harryhausen’s 7th Voyage of Sinbad with the creature making his victim watch him perform “Singing in the Rain”. That plus the casting, I’m open to it.

Brandon Cordy says:
01/2/09  11:30am

Could the “Black” one have possibly have been any more buffoonish? This is a mess

Cory Gross says:
01/3/09  1:10am

YES! Guinea Pigs vs. Transformers!

I probably won’t myself see this… But I suspect I’m not in quite the demographic for it. That doesn’t necessarily make it bad, or good, just not what I’d bother seeing.

As for why Disney makes live-action films… well, they can’t all be
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mary Poppins, Davy Crockett, Old Yeller, Tron or Pirates of the Carribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

Jason says:
01/3/09  7:54am

Screw nature, this is a crime against audiences.

Disney dumps Narnia and produces this pile of hamster pellets. Let me be the first to say it: Igers sucks as much as Eisner did. Oh, I’m too late? Crap!

Person says:

Not to be confused with the ACTUAL movie that was supposed to adapt “G-Force”, IMAGI’s Gatchman, which now seems to be in an uncertain situation: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-01-03/auditors-concerned-for-imagi-funds-for-films-after-astro-boy.

Daryl T says:

Err, has anyone noticed that this is basically a live-action version of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers.

Lucy P says:

I was born in the 80’s ,so I grew up with the classic Disney channel and movies, but I recently saw the trailer to G-Force and it looks like crap I’m not just saying that cause I’m in 20’s .I don’t know why Disney feels the need to make animals into superheroes like with Underdog(which thankfully I have never had to see).I’m sorry, but except for a few movies like the Chronicles of Narnia ,Disney has not put out a decent movie in a while .This is one movie i will not see ever,I will not even rent it for the students at my school when it comes out on dvd
