Waiting at the Geneva Airport for my flight back to New York and thought I’d share pics of a few of the fine animation folk I hung out with this past week in Annecy.
New York crew: PES, Fran Krause and Signe Baumane
Eddie White, co-director of The Cat Piano from The People’s Republic of Animation
Directors Andreas Hykade (Ring of Fire, The Runt) and Bill Plympton
Director Candy Kugel of Buzzco Associates , designer Harald Siepermann, and director David OReilly
Filmmaker Ruth Lingford, Projector festival director Susie Wilson, animation curator of the Cinémathèque Québecoise Marco de Blois, and Studio AKA creative director and Lost and Found director Philip Hunt
Mike and Tim Rauch of Rauch Bros. Animation and designer Erin Kilkenny
Joost van den Bosch (l.) of Ka-Ching Cartoons and Tomm Moore, co-director of Brendan and the Secret of Kells
Director Cordell Barker (The Cat Came Back) surrounded by men from Annecy’s Popeye fan club.
uh…POPEYE FAN CLUB?!?!?! THAT RULES!!!!!!
much much fun. all most go.
The funny part is, in these photos they are all talking about how great PIXAR is!
Those wacky french and their cute sailor outfits!
Eddie White: you’re in France…and you’re eating what? Merde?
At least Plympton knows how to live.
Ah, that looks like everyone’s having a blast. Someday I’ll find a way to go.
tim’s level of happiness always correlates positively with the number of buttons undone on his shirt
congrats to all.
ha in my defence, I had eaten baguettes etc all day and needed a quick snack before our dinner later that night… so yes it is merde, but only a once off
No need to apologize Eddie–I was just being nasty. IIRC the snacks in France and the UK are actually good. Especially the ones in those little chips bags. ; )
It’s here in the US where you’re killing yourself at twice the speed just touching that stuff.
Eddie: Crisps aprés baguettes? Beaucoup de carbohydrates, mon ami! What you need is some good saucisson!
Great to see a shot of Cordell, can’t wait to get a glimpse of his new film…it’s been way too long.
Yay, these are awesome pictures!! I had the most amazing time at Annecy!
One of the people I had the pleasure of meeting was Signe- she’s really great!! Not only was her film “Birth” in competition at Annecy, but she also won the Golden Bone award at the Annecy Plus screening put on by Bill Plympton and Nancy Denney-Phelps.
Great to meet you, Amid, looks like you had a blast too!! :)
