Tomorrow night in Manhattan is the big event. And there is still time to get tickets and a good seat. And it’s FREE!

Hobnob with the finest animators in New York City, as ASIFA-East Presents The 39th Annual ASIFA-East Animation Festival. The most anticipated local animation event of the year: Awards, films and a glorious reception afterwards (sponsored by Cartoon Network).

Location: Tishman Auditorium at The New School, 66 W. 12th St (bet. 5th/6th Ave.)

    For those of us on the left coast, ASIFA-SF shows the winners of the ASIFA-East festival later in the year. Like our eastern colleagues, the screening here is also free.

    "One of the most amazing things about these commercials was how much they achieved with a limited drawing count. When I put the first Marky Maypo spot in IRON GIANT I actually counted the number of drawings per minute and found it to be significantly lower than much of what is considered to be “limited” animation today… and yet it FEELS like much fuller animation. Because the animation is done with so much knowledge and experience, because the animator knew exactly what was essential and what wasn’t… you are left with an incredibly distinctive impression of these two characters… AND IT’S A DAMN INSTANT OATMEAL COMMERCIAL!"
