Looks like a great time. Tashlin’s sense of timing is well established on the few Schlesinger shorts he helmed. and, oddly enough, “Wolf Chases Pigs” is one of the few standouts in the Columbia catalogue, too.

It’s advisable for those who haven’t gone before to buy your ticket online. Last time I went it was sold out from online sales and I had to wait on standby, hoping someone didn’t show. This is an opportunity to see rare cartoons, some in pristine condition, projected in a theater.

Jerry, can you please post the Tashlin program lineup?

Will “Porky’s Poultry Plant”, “Hare Remover”, or “The Fox and the Grapes” be shown?

I will post the complete line-up, for those interested, here tomorrow. I will say that we will have 35mm prints of THE FOX AND THE GRAPES and A TALE OF TWO MICE… and rare prints of Tashlin’s early Van Beuren films, Snafu and a puppet film THE LADY SAYS NO.

Can’t wait! I’ve been thinking that they should have animation/cartoon Tuesdays at the Silent Film Theater for sometime now. Kudos for getting this going! I saw the ad for next month’s set (Be-Bop cartoons, I belive it was), that one looks great too!

Forget all the brown-nosers of other popular directors and ‘artists’, Tashlin was the incomparable one-of-a-kind. His cartoons were sophisticatedly adult and cartoony. I have most of them on film myself (I would like a few Van Beurens bearing his name though), and a few of his movies in IB Technicolor, which are so colorful that they look like a birthday cake came all over the screen.

HOOK & LADDER HOKUM (Van Beuren)

Once again, the eye-popping stars of these Silent Movie animation shows are the Columbia prints. They’re all dressed up with nowhere to go but screenings like this. ‘The Fox And The Grapes’ print was really cool. The next showing in August, ‘Be-Bop’ cartoons should be ineteresting. Some guy behind me said, “After the 3-Little Bops, what else is there?” Beany and Cecil’s ‘Wild Man of Wildsville’ comes to mind.

Jerry, Thanks for posting the list of cartoons. Have you thought of posting the list of films beforehand? Also, maybe giving out a paper brochure at the screenings? Even a half sheet of paper with a list of the cartoons would be appreciated.
My husband and son went last night and had a blast.
Thanks!

Jerry and Mark Thank you for putting this event together for us. As long as you keep screenin’ um I’ll keep seenin’ um

After all what good is LA without a monthly screening of some toons.

What can I say? I wish you’d go on tour with these shows…if New York would give you a decent venue.
