Why does this make me think of Monkey Island? it’s like Monkey Island the movie, I love it!

Me too! Alas, I feel Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean ripped from MI waaaay too close so we’ll never have a true MI film, but Aardman’s film looks to be the closest in spirit and humor we’ll ever get.

How nice to feel excited about an animated film again.

The part with the signs spelling “Aaaah” while the characters are falling, just killed me. XD

Loving what I see here…. Aardman seems to be back big time! :)

Cartoon mayhem stop motion at its best! Go Aardman.

I actually WANT to see this in 3D. First time for everything.

I must be in a really bad mood today, I found that incredibly unfunny. Or maybe I still have the bitter after taste from reading one of those awful Pirates books the movie is based on (the Napoleon one). And they almost lost me with the moonwalking.

Visually it is gorgeous though, and it did make me think of Monkey Island as well, which is a plus.

Whaaat? Those books were pretty funny I thought. Maybe it just wasn’t your kind of humor…

    Go Aardman Go !

With Aardman’s film, as well as Laika’s, Cinderbiter’s,Tim Burtons and a couple of others it appears that stopmotion features are flourishing. Looks great.

This could be amazing…it might even work in 3d, who knows? I love Aardman and their unique style, but 3d tends to a bit lifeless. Fingers crossed it turns out great!

Oh, and I’ve started a new film blog, any opinions and input is really welcome. I’m going to post all my favourite trailers on there too :)

The first movie I saw in 3D was Coraline. From that moment on I was 100% sold that stop motion takes the most away from what 3D offers, and it was awesome. Like having the sets and puppets on a table in front of you performing; you can appreciate the beauty of stop motion on a whole new level. Of course, the 3D has to be done well, but I wouldn’t hesitate from paying a few extra bucks to see and Aardman film in 3D.

Saw this trailer on the big screen ahead of Arthur Christmas yesterday, looked beautiful, so excited about this.

    “She… doesn’t even have a beard!”

  • Tomm

    Looks great!

  • Joe G

Is this the final title of the movie?I saw on the other trailers carries the title of the book.

    • Neil Emmett

Apparently it’s “…Band of Misfits” in America, and “…in an Adventure with Scientists” in the UK.

  • Jess

I saw a working screening of this a few months ago and it’s one of the freshest and whimsical animated features out there. i think it’ll be a huge hit, definitely an Oscar contender!

  • Azz

This is going to be the animated film of 2012. Will be so good to have a good giggle!

Looks great! Although I feel the animation is a bit slow here and there.

  • Richard

This looks like a LOT of fun – I’m so there in spring.

  • Tim Douglas

This seems (like everything to me lately) a bit “Dreamworks-y”.

It’s probably me, I’ll get past it. Looks great either way.

I’m a huge fan of stop motion and can’t wait to this film! Personally, I would love to see a stop motion film at least once a year. Too bad companies don’t seem to think it to be a worthy art form.

The other trailers had much better pacing but this still looks like a fun movie.

  • Ray Ray

I can say this with conviction, Aardman animation ALWAYS make me laugh out loud and this trailer was no exception. I can’t wait to see it.

  • http://thatssokraven.com/ Kelly Tindall

Can’t wait. This movie’s got all the momentum right now.

  • Steve Gattuso

This looks extraordinarily silly. I like that.

  • Matheus014

    Aardman, Please surprise me.
