Dean DeBlois’ New Film

Everybody knows what Lilo and Stitch co-director Chris Sanders is up to nowadays, but what about the film’s other director, Dean DeBlois? Apparently, DeBlois has just directed a live-action documentary about the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. The film Heima (Homeland) has been quite well received by critics. Here is a recent New Yorker audio interview with DeBlois and the band.

Argh! How did I miss that? The screening at the Film Festival Ghent (my hometown) just started 40 minutes ago! I was thinking about seeing it, but eventually decided against it. If only I’d looked at who the director was…

    Here’s a link to the jaw-droppingly-beautiful TRAILER.

  • Wow!!! Congrats to Dean!!!!

Wow, He went from sunny Kauai to frosty Reykjavik —that’s versatility!

    Thanks for the trailer, Jay.

All of the comments after the review hotly dispute the extent of Dean’s involvement in the making of the film. Is he actually responsible for it?

All? Really? There are a few that dispute, and a few that support, with details about who did what. Click on “read all reviews” to see the whole thing.

I don’t know what Dean did or didn’t do, but saying all the comments dispute his involvement is nowhere near close to correct.

I think I saw a segment exploring Dean’s involvement in the film on the PBS series “History Detectives.”

Paul: I didn’t read the expanded comments. I stand corrected.
