Fear(s) of the Dark

Peurs du Noir

Back in February 2006, I wrote about an intriguing French animated feature Peur(s) du Noir (Fears of the Dark), which is a black-and-white anthology of scary stories. Each of the stories has a distinct look designed by alternative comic artists and illustrators like Charles Burns, Lorenzo Mattotti and Richard McGuire. The English trailer can be viewed here (Quicktime) and the film website is here. The film opens on February 13, 2008 in France. No word yet on whether there’ll be an international release.

    Scaringly delightful!

Too bad we probably won’t see it here in Mexico :-(

This is something I would definitely like to see.
It would be awesome if this could be released in the United States.
I actually think the concept could have a chance with American audiences. It looks really cool.

I remember hearing about this film (most likely here, in fact) at least a year ago, but this is the first footage of it I’ve seen.

Looks great, another French animated film we probably won’t get. Anyone that thinks there is no good animated movies out there anymore needs to take a good look at France’s output in the last few years, which seems to be steadily expanding year by year, with a variety of films you rarely see from Hollywood. I think I’m gonna have to learn French and take a gap year out there one of these days..
