This is an honest, if not particularly funny, bit from the MTV Movie Awards about the desperation in Hollywood for finding new and unique ways to promote movies online. Just remember the key word: viral.
when guys from hollywood can have this much fun making jokes about themselves (and pop culture that deserves it)…everything feels, well, ok again. hilarious!
Black & Downey are both funny. It would have been best cut down and losing the “nephew”, but still pretty great: Stiller: “Iron Head!” RDJ: “-man” “What?” “Nothing”.
actually thats probably a good reflection of our society in america today. personally, i think the “mock” prisoner/head explosion is tasteless and demented especially in a time of war.
the comedy is predictable and the same old perverted gags we see over and over again in films and shows today. its become the new “poopy joke” for this generation and hardly funny.
“actually thats probably a good reflection of our society in america today. personally, i think the “mock” prisoner/head explosion is tasteless and demented especially in a time of war.”
I might be wrong…..but I think they were mocking Mission Impossible 3.
Excellent. Hopefully the movie will be as funny. There’s only one thing MTV does right and that’sthe Movie Awards, the event they have the least control of…
“‘Til Dark Knight comes out, then you’re screwed.”
That’s so true. XD
Strangly I feel bad for Jack Black in this. Usually he’s the one causing pain to Kyle Gass in his band’s skits, but now he’s playing the fat dumb one. Hmm, makes ya think.
Not surprisingly, that was probably the FUNNIEST part of the awards. Because for only two hours, they had about 80% entertainment. And only……. I think……. 5 award presentations?
It’s grim, but it’s funny precisely because Jack Black is playing against type. The ending is arguably overboard, but more to the point, not as funny as what goes before it. Context is everything and it’s the context of camaraderie that makes this skit really peak when Robert Downey Jr. starts in with the hammer.
Anyway, while I agree it was the highlight of the MTV Movie Awards (which isn’t saying much), I’m not sure what it’s doing here on this site. It’s not about Kung Fu Panda (or anything else animated).
By Sitji Chou. A man tries to understand the futility of creating human connections when they’ve been impeded by the microcosmic void between material particles.
By Dylan Hayes. Lesson 1: Everyone gambles, not everyone loses. Lesson 2: The world is full of traps. Lesson 3: You cannot win if you don’t take risks.
Haha! That wasn’t bad for viral marketing… Very clever actually…

Was Jack Black ever funny? That clip made me feel bad for paying to see Iron Man.
There should be a Constitutional amendment to stop Ben Stiller from making any more movies. Also Ellen DeGenere – I mean, Owen Wilson.
Damned funny!
haha, hilarious!

It goes too far…sick.

lame.
It was hilarious…and a little creepy.
The voice of the teenager is what I found creepy, the exploding head was kind of cool ;-)

i never saw MI 3. but regardless, i think it was a little overboard.
I thought it was funny. It sums up what Hollywood has turned into- a bunch of adults killing themselves trying to entertain a bored 12- year old boy.
So…uh…there’s something wrong with tasteless and demented…??
“‘Til Dark Knight comes out, then you’re screwed.”
Screw the Big Two!
I’ll be seeing The Spirit and Hellboy II, thank you.

I thought it was great!
Awww….it was taken down.
Oh well.
“So…uh…there’s something wrong with tasteless and demented…??”
is there something wrong with thinking its wrong?
Why was this taken down?
What part of “Viral” don’t they get?
I really liked this, especially Robert Downey who was VERY funny. This was far superior to the skits Mike Meyers did.

“is there something wrong with thinking its wrong?”
No, not at all. It’s kind of exciting to meet an animator who feels everything should be in good taste.^_^
“is there something wrong with thinking its wrong?”
Is there something wrong with thinking it’s wrong to think it’s wrong?

this one is still working
Can’t Viacom and YouTube just get along?
It’s not surprising how grim this skit is. Teens today get a steady flow of Grand Theft Auto and 4-Chan :(
At least it’s funnier than the trailer for Mike Myers’ The Love Guru (which may be this year’s shining example of damning with faint praise).
