Katy Perry IS Smurfette

Something good has come from this new Smurfs movie: Katy Perry and her Smurfette dress. More hot photos from The Smurfs World Premiere at The Huffington Post.

Best example of the SmurfettePrinciple I have ev-er seeeeeeeeeeeen.

    • Iritscen

You lost me, how does the Smurfette Principle apply here? Maybe I missed the joke.

  • tonma

…she’s so desperate for attention, but heck, this works really really well.

    • tom

She is the voice of Smurfette in the film. You could hardly call her desperate for attention to show up at the premiere in a dress that would call attention to that.

      • tonma

woops I didnt’t know that! I was talking about her usual flashy ways. Anyhow, that’s what I get for skipping smurf news lately. I’m sorry.

Hey now. If you smurf with your smurf, you’ll go blind.

      • @Tuba, My comment was in reply to kailep. I had written it before yours had appeared on the site.

    • Ew

Gross gross gross gross gross. X(

  • Tim

hahaha It’s a cool Dress, But I think It’d be an even better photo if the dress wasn’t there ;P I think that’s the only way she’d convince me to watch this movie hahaha

  • Kyle Maloney

    She went blond??? why?

    • 2011 Adult

Globviously, to match with Smurfette’s hair.

    • V.M.L.

She’s naturally blonde. She’s been dying her hair black ever since she got into pop music.

      • Kyle Maloney

She’s a natural blonde? Well that just blew my mind.

      • Keith

Emma Stone’s the same way; she looks so natural as a redhead, I thought the Spider-Man people were pulling another Kirsten Dunst/Bryce Howard from the Sam Raimi Spidey films (getting a blonde to play Mary Jane Watson, and a redhead to play Gwen Stacy) when they cast her as Gwen–but it’s her natural color!

    • because…Smurfette! hello!!

  • Inkan1969

Huh? Did she dye her hair?

  • I see Katy Perry. Where’s the “something good” to offset that?

  • Martin

That is SO exactly what Peyo had in mind back in 1958…

    • Inkan1969

She should’ve gone all the way and dyed her skin blue.

  • top cat james

And now the little blue men are scrambling for their little blue pills…

  • Jason

What’s funny is that the next image is this:

Kind of fitting oddly. Maybe it might be as good as Enchanted heh…

  • No no no! This is all wrong! Smurfette’s shoes are WHITE not blue! Way to go Hollywood! Once again you start screwing with the classics and get it all wrong. I bet the executive that designed this got another 40k a year raise too!

  • majolo

Well, at least no one will have to ask “Who are you wearing?”…

  • Christopher Cook

Does nothing for me. Katy Perry’s music sucks and every photo of her is nothing but a “notice me” op.

  • A scene from SMURFS was just on DAILY SHOW.
Looks like ALVIN with Smurfs instead of chipmunks.
There were lots of “lantern hanging” references:
“We acknowledge the peculiarities but we don’t explain them”.
It is probably possible to make better movies than this.

    • In Europe, Smurfs is primarily known for what it started as—a very funny, sometimes rather adult comic book series loosely similar to the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, but minus the cheese and plus a whole lot of humor, cynicism, violence, and beautiful artistry.
I haven’t seen the new movie; but from outward appearances, it looks like it started and ended with the decision to make fun of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

      • Chris Sobieniak

Those comics were really impressive to me.

  • tonma

hey you know there’s an upskirt photo of her in this dress?! ….all right, getting out of topic… sorry.

  • Visitatore

Keti perdi si è rovinata!!!!!!!!!!! Ma che, usi puffetta?

  • Well, I would certainly give her a big kiss

  • Samantha

I’m straight and I’d hit that.

  • John A

You and me both, Samantha. She made me Pop-a-Smurf!

  • This picture does not jibe with paparazzi photos of the unprepared Ms. Perry from as recently as last week. Foundation undergarment shenanigans are in evidence, perhaps the reputed “triple-Spanx” technique.

  • Inkan1969

I really like the design for Smurfette on her dress.

In contrast, the CGI Smurfette is so very lacking in appeal. :-P

  • andreas Wessel-Therhorn

cute dress. at least it has the drawn smurfette on it, not the creepy looking cg hooker look

  • Glowworm

I smurfed a smurf and I liked it.

That’s all I can think of when it comes to Perry voicing Smurfette.

  • calarts76

so the target audience for this 3d a-list-as-of-48-hours-ago celebrity voiced extravaganza is for WHO now?

    PG. oh right. kids.

and a bleach-blonde pop-star with a wonky moral compass TOTALLY sells to a sexy 6 year old. and their sexy parents.

    clap-clap-clap, hollywood. clap-clap-clap.

    • snip2346

I had no idea Hollywood red carpet premieres were aimed at children.

Cartoon Brew! Home to the most Passive Agressive comments on the internet (this one included!)

  • I’m slightly ashamed to admit how much this appeals to me, in a purely aesthetic sense. I mean, her eyeshadow! and those shoes…!!!!

  • Hiring Katy Perry for her voice acting is like hiring Patrick Stewart to model hairstyles… You can do it, but it’s a pointless waste of time.

    • anon

implying patrick stewart doesn’t naturally have god like skills at whatever he attempts

  • Mad Dog

I didn’t come to Cartoon Brew to look at Katy Perry’s face.

    • Inkan1969

      Who’s looking at her face?

  • MM

    She looks totally smurfy:)
