Max & Co

Here’s another film to look out for.

The winner of the public prize at this year’s Annecy Animation Festival was a stop motion puppet film called Max & Co. Produced by a relatively new studio called cinemagination with puppets constructed by mackinnon and saunders (responsible for the Corpse Bride models), it’s the first feature film by brothers Fred and Sam Guillaume. Currently playing on the festival circuit, Max & Co is now scheduled for a theatrical release in Europe next February. Here’s a link to the trailer.

    I really like the puppets.
    Grotesque, but appealing.

I like the design – ça a l’air très rigolo!

They showed the entire movie at the Toronto film festival and it’s not a particularly good film. It’s mostly socialist hogwash about labor/management relations and breeding killer flies in order to sell flyswatters. Really dumb.

Regardless of whether it’s a good film or not, it sure looks pretty. I swore i was looking at CG throughout the film.

I’m really digging the character designs of this film, and I could only take in so much German to get what’s going on. The fact that its stop motion instead of CG really intrigues me.

    although… Is THIS considered furry?

I love Seinfeld, but there is no way I’d pay cash money to see it in theatres. A movie about a talking Bee and Jerry’s super-high voice with no counter-balance.

A swordfight with a store clerk and a pushpin?

David Puddy in yet another animated movie?

I’ll watch it on DVD when it comes out next year

The characters are anthropomorphic animals, so yes. Definitely furry.
