“Ronal The Barbarian” Trailer

I’m all for animated films with a more adult sensibility, but this new 3D CG feature from Denmark, directed by Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Kresten Vestbjerg Andersenand, sorta swings both ways (pun intended). Ronal Barbaren (Ronal the Barbarian) opens in Denmark on September 19th.

(Thanks, Warren Leonhardt)

Ballsy and way more exciting than the actual movie running in cinemas… skol!

  • TJR

….I think we just lost the family audience…..

    • Karim

      PG-What ? ;)

  • victoria

I would watch this, but not in mixed company

    • eeedel

mixed company? why not? I would.

  • Andrew Kieswetter

    It looks great!

  • eeedel

Wish I could see this in the theaters :( ..without leaving the country or having to drive half a day. Im sure it’ll be online two months(cough) from now but Im ALL ABOUT supporting ventures like this.

  • Michel Van

i hope this movie is translate fast and put on DVD /B-ray

  • Gagaman

For some reason the end logo bit had me in stitches.

    • Justin

The little bear logo at the end was fucking great!

      • Nik

I was laughing so hard at the bear logo at the end!

I would definitely like to see this film. It looks amusing and reminds me of the direction that Ralph Bakshi animation was going in the 1970s and ’80s.

      • Andrew Kieswetter

It reminds me of Belgian animator Picha’s movies like ‘The Missing Link’ and ‘Shame of the Jungle’.

      • Chris Sobieniak

It certainly does (perhaps without the exposed genitals).

  • Mike Johnson

Also known as: “How to Train Your Barbarian.”

Looks fun though…hope I get to see it at some point.

  • Failed Art Student

Oh no! They killed The Nordisk Film Bear!

Still that movie looks…interesting. If it ever becomes available to watch in English I might give it a chance.

  • Rufus

Bits obviously look ripped off from “How to Train Your Dragon”, but this will easily be better than this year’s Conan the Barbarian. I might watch this.

  • Frank Panucci

    Heh, heh.
Title at end looks like “Renal Barbarian”.

  • K. Lindberg

Kresten and Thorbjørn also made the very funny “Terkel i knibe”. While it wasn’t exactly a animation masterpiece, it had tons of laughs.

I lived in Denmark for a few years and noticed that their “family” and “kids” film tend to be darker, so it wont surprise me if this will be considered a “good fun for the whole family” film over there.

  • Jared

I dunno, at first I thought of “how to train your dragon,” but really, it’s got barbarians in it. That looks like the only comparison. This looks way hardcore, as a barbarian movie should be. As a fan of action, medieval stuff, and metal, this looks amazing. XD
Also, this movie would never be made in america. =p

  • Chris Webb

Looks like fun! I’d go see it if i could.

  • Lewie

I hope it is a fantastic as Terkel i knibe.

    • AnimatedT

      You said it!! :D

  • Hal

I’ll be damned, this one really seems to have come together. After the failure of CONAN this summer in theaters maybe playing it straight is not the way to go in the barbaric sword and sorcery genre. But what’s this? TWISTED SISTER’S DEE SNIDER is voicing the villain for the US dub?!?! Nothing. But. Win.

  • Jim

It’s rude, crude and not really appropriate for kids. I loved it to bits!!
    Sequel ? Anyone? Pleaaaassse …
