Digital Domain’s John Textor Is A Meme

Digital Domain artists–past and present–can now vent their frustrations via the Pirate Textor meme.

  • Taco Wiz

It’s called an “image macro”, not a “meme”.

    • …which is why it’s posted on

      • Lulu

Just because the title of the website includes the word doesn’t mean it’s correct sry2say

  • Oh come on, Monster House wasn’t that bad.

    • Gobo

I really liked Monster House. Matter of fact, I don’t know anyone who’s seen it who didn’t really dig it.

  • Jorge Garrido

    Is /r/animation leaking?

    • Nate W

It’d seem like that, but no image macros have been posted on /r/animation for 4 days

  • animguy

I don’t understand the monster house one. DD didn’t work on it, so I am missing the joke. Can someone explain?

    • inside baseball time

Trex once claimed at an internal meeting that he wanted to make “family friendly fare” because he took his family to see Monster House and was “disgusted” and thought it was “filth”.

      That’s pretty much it.

      • animguy

        ah, thank you

      • Abe

Woah, didn’t hear that one. Wow.

      • Funkybat

I can only imagine what the guy would think of “ParaNorman…”

  • “Textor” sounds like a bad anime villain, doesn’t it?
Perhaps from now on we can say of mismanaged companies that they’ve been Textored.

  • I found one that said CARTOON BREW RUINED MY LIFE.

  • scared animator

First they came for the socialists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.

    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me

This has become a wicked witch hunt for one person based on the belief of one person and will have a effect on many FAMILIES and already has.. this is just downright scary.., Just WOW I’M blown away ..

    • You’re right, Scared Animator, writing about a businessman on an animation blog is exactly like the persecution of Jewish people by the Nazis. What were we thinking?

Hilarious!! Your ignorance must be bliss?? You don’t even recognized the quote??..

Your missing the point  ” WHO’S NEXT ”

A head animator that wouldn’t grant you a interview?
A layout artist that used a blue col-erase instead of a blue one ??
A secretary the wouldn’t patch your call?

Your self righteous rant about a intern problem has taken down not just employees of DD but there family’s as well. Can you grow up a bit to even recognize what you have done? How it snowballed down to a grass root level??
Think about the Animator having to tell his wife that he’s been laid off? and how his wife’s fear of not making rent effects there children..
The Pen IS mighty then the sword and your Pen has slashed many!

      • Isaac

Just because you can be immature and spiteful about this doesn’t mean you should. We get it. You don’t like the guy. Maybe nobody likes him. This is what, the tenth post you made about it? Get it out of your system and move on.

      • SKent.

I don’t get it. How are people getting laid off because of a few petty blog posts? Can you fill me in on that one?

Did Amid hurt Textor’s feelings, so now he’s going to go fire everyone?

      • Dino

        Scared Animator,

        1. From his response, Amid clearly does recognize the quote. I can’t make out why you think otherwise.
        2. Granted, Amid may get heavy-handed in his Textor posts, but to blame him directly for some teary-eyed scene where a laid-off animator breaks the news to his wife and kids is a bit… hysterical.
        3. If you’re really as worked-up about this as you seem, you might want to go get some fresh air or something.

      • Dino – Shooting the messenger is a common tactic of those who wish to sow division and deflect attention from the real causes. If there is any melodramatic scene of the kind that Scared Animator suggests (and that’s extremely doubtful to begin with), the blame belongs squarely on the shoulders of the individuals who created the financial mess. To blame an animation blog for reporting on Digital Domain’s failures is beyond any rational thinking.

  • xevo

Rev. Niemoller just flipped in his crypt…

  • Steve M.

You know you messed-up big when the internet is making fun of you.

  • Dalby

And a tip of the hat to “The Hangman” which was more or less quoted without reference.

  • Bud

    He loads DD with debt.
He strips DD of their assets
He merges DD with another company if it’s profitable for him to do so.
He sends more DD jobs overseas.

I wouldn’t trust this guy with a country, much LESS with a business.

  • J. Champlain

Yeah, I thought the Monster House was pretty good too. I honestly don’t know anyone who doesn’t like it.
