The next big 3D cartoon hit?

It worked for THE LION KING. Who knows what cartoon treasures lie in studio vaults, awaiting 3D conversion? Perhaps Terrytoons Flebus?

Or maybe Clutch Cargo?

(Thanks, Reg Hart)

Clutch Cargo and its brother-in-disembodied-lips Space Angel are the only cartoons ever made that wouldn’t look MORE creepy with 3-D.

  • Five words: Gene Deitch Tom and Jerry.

  • I’d already be happy if Flebus would become available 2D!

There’s one thing you may have missed. When watching The Lion King in 3D, I took off my glasses sometimes and the image wasn’t separated into two layers like the images you have above. It may not work the same way you are thinking.

    • LION KING was converted to 3D using the new Quantum Plectra technology, which only works if you don’t know about it.

  • Your 3D process is inverted. The left eye should be red and the right eye blue.

    • David Breneman

There’s no real standard. With the “Deep Vision” process, the right eye is red and the left eye is cyan (“blue”).

  • Ken Layton

    Spunky and Tadpole in 3D!

  • Tim Hodge

I dug out my red/blue glasses to view these images. Nice! Thank you.

  • It will be 3D Little Mermaid. It’s recent enough to draw in kids, and old enough to bring in nostalgia.

  • David Breneman

If that was a REAL Clutch Cargo 3D image, the lips would be behind the rest of the face.

  • At least these would be fun. On the other hand, Ruby-Spears’ TURBO TEEN was originally supposed to be aired with 3D sequences but mankind was spared and plans fell through!

How about just we stick to only those 50’s cartoons that were made in 3D?

  • Daniel J. Drazen

Just when I thought Clutch Cargo couldn’t be any more unwatchable…
