“Fantasy” by Jérémie Périn (NSFW)

Talk about your “adult swim”: this anime-inspired music video for DyE, directed by French animator Jérémie Périn, is clearly Not Safe For Work (NSFW). A group of teens break into the local pool for an innocent nighttime swim, or so they think…

That was great. Reminds me of Studio4c work

  • Emily

That was awesome. I loved how the story turned.

  • D

Good Song, Good Animation. Loved the Lovecraftian monsters.

  • ozzyfab

This is by the same guy who did Trucker’s Delight! Quite a talent!

  • Kartoonz Kritik

Touching someone’s “no no” place takes on a whole new meaning.

  • victoria

    O__O

  • Kelly McNutt

Lesson: this is what beer and sex leads you to. You’ve been warned.

  • Cord

I totally wasn’t expecting that turn of events. Really cool.

Honestly – I think it would have been much more effective done in live action with a decent CG/FX budget.

      who would think that?
do you live in los angeles?

    • Conor

Perhaps if they were going for a pseudo-camp feel in the vein of MGMT’s “Kids” video, or a surreal vibe like the CG stuff in in Gilliam’s “Fear and Loathing”, but for something that’s going for a straight forward, sincere horror vibe, the level of abstraction inherent to the animated medium is definitely a huge asset in getting the audience to accept something so strange.

I hate this kind of sex-fear stuff.

  • NC

    Now that’s what I call heavy petting…

  • TheDirtyVicar

Whoa. Not exactly where I was expecting it to go. Very nicely done.

  • Mister Twister

This video made me see forever.

  • Toonio

I was wondering where all the soft porn was going and POW!!! the twist knocked me off my socks!

    This guy is da bomb!

  • Clint H

I’d like to see what happens when sex-ed teachers were to show THIS to their students.

  • Alberto

    Kids these days…

At first i was thinking, “this doesn’t look nearly as good as trucker’s delight.” And then holy shit, there’s that vision i was hoping for! Bravo jeremie!

Wow! That monstrous transformation segment was insane.

If that’s what happens when somebody sneaks into the pool, somebody better call the Ghostbusters or MIB.

    Good video though.

Excellent work all around. Gross as hell at the end, too.

  • Laura

This scared the crap out of me

    Niiiiiiiiice.

  • John

    More demonic anime stuff!

  • Aleix

Can’t have anime without some kind of monster scene. When the transformation occurs I keep hearing a quote from the Flintstones…

“You are a wiggly worm, sir. A wiggly worm, sir, is the lowest lump of whale blubber in the ocean depths.”

I love that original opening. I have a vague memory as a child of the closing that went with it (where they zoom back to see that Fred is waking up all of Bedrock). Why did they lose that? Could it be the similarity to the “Bugs Bunny Show” theme?

  • Gray64

Very well done. Well paced and executed, with some really great visual characterization. Still, though, to echo KipW, I really hate the “fear-sex-body horror” stuff.

  • Jake Amir

So if I finger my girl friend I turn into a monster? D:

    • Steph

You’ll have to test it out. Let us know how that works out for you ;)

  • Cthulhu

Well, if you do it in water where the Great Old One sleeps, then yes.

The French generally have a good take on Lovecraft, now that I think about it. Moebius did a bunch of fantastic HPL inspired short comics that skewed erotic, and the French have a frank “death/sex are entwined” attitude in their pop culture that’s a bit alien to us Americans. This captures Lovecraft’s spirit (and his squeamish attitude to sexual acts) better than most anything I’ve seen. I generally hate anime styled animation, but it was all worth it for that final image and the movement on that girl devouring the boy, with their entwined bodies moving as one was spectacular… and I just saw this was by the director of TRUCKER’S DELIGHT and that makes me smile. I’m glad someone’s taking Japanese pop influence to the extreme.

It reminded me of The Thing at first… then things started getting odd.

And that kids is why you don’t do drugs.
