Musician/animator Billy Polard made this music video for his song Losing Light entirely on his Nintendo DSi using an animation program called Flipnote Studio. Says Polard: “Two weeks and hundreds of drawings later, not to mention how tiny the screen on the dsi is, here it is…”

I really dig that feature on my DSI :)
It’s so hard to get even this good at drawing on the thing, ha-ha.
Great music video! :)

Absolutely gorgeous. Having used Flipnote, I’m really impressed with what he got into this. Really excellent.

Outstanding work! I don’t think that I can accurately express how much I enjoyed this.
Every now and then the Internet can be pretty awesome.

So incredibly simple and so inventive and effective in every part of it’s execution. And real emotion too. Big kudos

How sweet (and sad). The song fits the animation well. Great job!

Nice style. If it had used a bit of actual animation it might have had an emotional impact. (Only half a walk cycle that I could see.)

It’s amazing how easy Billy makes making a 3 1/2 min. short. No matter how limited.

It was like a really cute animated storyboard.

Kudos Billy!

Michael.. you seriously didn’t see “any” animation?

Then how did the mosnter bend down to pick up that rock??

This was incredibly done. Considering the tools and limited time.

Congrats Billy

Flipnote was the main reason for to get a DSi

It’s really cool to see someone using it to this extent!

Here’s some flipnotes I’ve made:

For anyone with a DS memory card thing for playing homebrew games/software, another really nice (and free!) DS animation app is ‘Animanatee’ which can be downloaded here http://deku.rydia.net/program.html

Wow! I am really impressed! This little thing had more emotion and personality than a lot of crap on TV these days! Nice job Billy!
