“Road Regrets” directed by Jon Busby

I appreciate how this video for Dan Mangan’s “Road Regrets” breaks from the standard anthropomorphic representation of cars in animation. The design of the car, along with the visual storytelling, project just enough personality to make the piece work. The video is directed and designed by Jon Busby, who is a co-founder of the new Vancouver-based outfit Blatant.

I can’t stress this enough. Animation works so well with music video’s because it’s a storytelling medium and you can freely work with your imagination.

    No difference here. Well done.

Wow, this thing raised my heart rate, really. I like how they deprived the car of all not-design-based expression. They even avoided flickering the headlights. It’s all about blind determination vs. nature.

Amazing –It just shows how good design can evoke emotion. I was actually cheering for the little car to go faster.
