Capobianco’s Leonardo begins screening
September 15, 2009 5:30 pm
Pixar animator Jim Capobianco’s long awaited hand-drawn short film Leonardo will screen this weekend for Academy Award qualification. You can catch the short on Sept. 18th, 19th and 20th at 11:45AM and 12:25PM at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 in LA. Capobianco writes: I may be there for the Sunday shows. The old fellow is showing with two other qualifying short films BIRTHDAY GIFT (animated) and AFTER TOMORROW (live action). I have no idea if they are any good or what they are about. Check out the poster here or the trailer there. |
Looks fantastic! Wish I could be there to see it in person ~ been looking forward to it for a long time! Best of luck, Jim!
I have always enjoyed Jim’s storyboard art. He’s a great talent. I would love to nominate his film, but films must go through a specific process by a select committee to get nominated. At least the screening will allow his film to qualify.
Ah, interesting tactic. Merits aside this is an interesting way to do it, I know it can cost a lot of $$ to do it that way aside from the 35mm print. I believe the other way is coming in first place in a festival that the Academy has accredited, Annecy, Ottowa and Hiroshima are ones… I think. Then again I could be talking out of my butt.
Very cool.
Congratulations, Jim!
Nice Jim….I don’t know you and you don’t know me…but I’ve been rooting for you for a while now! Glad to see it’s finally finished.
Hey old friend, congratulations! I am very proud of you and hope it does well. Good luck!!
Congrats Jim. Been following your blog waiting for this one for a looooooooooooong time :)
Stunning. I haven’t seen traditional hand-drawn animation in… many years.
I love the look of pencil on paper and wished i was on the west coast to see this.
Will there be a wider web release of this film for everyone else to see?
Congrats! Love it!
Well done Jim. It was well worth waiting for. A very classy piece of work. Let’s hope for some well deserved Academy recognition. good luck !!
