Among the animated shorts that will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival next month is the world premiere of Glen Keane’s new short Dear Basketball.

Based on a poem written in 2015 by NBA player Kobe Bryant to announce his retirement from the game, the project is produced by Bryant’s Kobe Studios, Believe Entertainment Group, and Sports Illustrated, which will eventually screen the film on SI.com.

Besides the involvement of former Disney legend Glen Keane, five-time Academy Award-winning composer John Williams (Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, Star Wars) is providing the score for Dear Basketball.

Keane and Bryant appeared together last month as presenters at ASIFA-Hollywood’s Annie Awards.

The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival takes place in New York City April 19-30.
