“Junk” trailer

Here’s the exquisite trailer for Kirk Hendry’s new short, Junk, which has been selected for competition at Annecy this year. The film was produced at London-based commercial studio th1ng, where Hendry works as a house director.

The film took two years to complete and tells the story of a boy with an obsession for junk food – literally – and the importance of following your “gut instinct”!

Looks interesting. I love the atmosphere and the silhouette animation style. It reminded me of the short The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello in terms of the artwork and surreal imagery. Wish the trailer would have given us more insight into the plot though, nonetheless I am interested.

This looks stunning! By the way, you can download the soundtrack for free on the Junk website mentioned in the post! It seems like it complements the movie very well. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the whole movie!

  • Overall, nice.

I like the design a lot. Not sure if the music suits the visuals – and they could really use some sound effects to sweeten it.

One thing that really bothers me – the same shot (or similar visual) of the boy turning to his right, is used 3 times in the first 30 seconds.

  • I’m really interested to see how this all plays out. Has a nice Tim Burton influence, without it looking so Burtonish at all.

  • I’m listening to the score now. Very nice work!

  • Feels very Jasper Morello to me. I like anything that traces it’s roots back to Lotte Reiniger
