La Fete by Malcolm Sutherland
March 17, 2010 7:45 pm
A sketchbook-style piece (with many funny moments) from Malcolm Sutherland whose consistently original works are positioning him as one of Canada’s top indie animators. Description from his Vimeo page:

Really nice. Always look forward to Malcolm’s work. Thanks for posting this.
Nice work! Malcolm makes me aware of how many funny moves I see on the street every day, which never find their way into animation. The walk those two guys do at 5:06 is priceless.
The balloons are even better than those in UP. Love this little film!
Roosts the coop of monotonous reality
A really nice job blending cutout and drawn animation styles. I’d love to hear about his coloring process.
An excellent, sweet film. Great work.
He’s a dynamo! He also happens to be a very down-to-earth, all around nice guy which doesn’t hurt either. Amazing how he keeps turning out such varied and strong work.
This film makes you remember/realize why you carry a sketchbook around. Good stuff.
Grr.. I can’t watch Vimeo at work. But I will later at home.
Question, where does Malcom find the time to make these films?? Is this his full time job? I’d imagine.
His past films were a treat though. I’m sure this one’s no different. Congrats!
This was great!
