A delightful trailer for The Little Boy and the Beast (Der Kleine und das Biest), a six-minute short directed by Johannes Weiland and Uwe Heidschöetter at Studio Soi. Looks like it could be CG, though a lot of drawing went into its making too. It was made for German children’s TV channel KI.KA, where it debuted last November, and will hopefully be making the festival rounds soon for the rest of us.

It looks pretty good, but am I the only one who thinks it’s weird and unnecessary to make a trailer for a short? Did it just become common recently?

I don’t mind it really Aaron, just whetting the appetite

This is a really charming film with a sensitive & thoughtful story that deserves a much wider audience. Great to see Studio Soi’s Johannes Weiland & Uwe Heidscotter get some exposure for their terrific work.

Studio Soi always make really cool stuff – I saw their animated version of ‘The Gruffalo’ over christmas and absolutely loved it.

Is this supposed to be the “Gruffalo”?

Nice marriage of 2D and 3D. Should be a festival hit.
