Wild Wind by Leo Campasso
October 13, 2009 12:08 pm

Twenty-one-year old Leo Campasso, an animator at Buenos Aires studio HookUp Animation, created Wild Wind in his spare time. The short is an experiment that combines pixel-style characters with traditional cartoon animation principles. The results are a lot of fun and prove that one need not associate pixel animation with stilted, boring movement . Interesting sidenote: Leo said in his email to me that he’s been animating since he was twelve when he got his hands on a copy of Flash 4.

A high-res version of the film can be downloaded here.

Ha! The animation is great. I wonder what rpogram he used to go about that? If I were to venture a guess I’d say Photoshop.

But the musical hints go great with the character. It’s especially enjoyable if you can recognize the tunes. The Donkey Kong segments are the best!

I’d have t o say it was made in Flash Gio.
You can download an add-on for Flash which is essentially a pixel brush. It’s pretty cool.
Plus, the animation is also on Newgrounds, in SWF format. Ha.

That’s besides the point anyways. It’s a very nice little animation.

I liked the animation, it was fun to watch. But I sat through all of that for his hair to get messed up? Either there was a skipped beat or there just wasn’t nearly enough payoff for the huge amount of buildup.

That looks pretty great. It reminds me of “Day of the Tentacle” A Lucasarts game for the PC in the mid 90’s GREAT pixel animation there to.

Don’t get me wrong – I enjoyed the short… but is it really pixel animation?

Thank you very much for your comments!
I am very happy with the impact it is having “ wild wind”and that it has pleased the majority of people who saw it.
It is an honor for me to compare with “the Day of the Tentacle´- LucasArs ´´ !!!
The short was done entirely in flash, with the brush of pixels plugin.
The music was chosen on purpose, helping the climate that was taking the short.

Sorry for my low level of English Lenguaje, thanks to google translator jajaj

Thanks for the comments and I hope they continue to enjoy my works !!!
