As we enter the new year, we’d like to remind everyone to review our site’s commenting guidelines. While Cartoon Brew has always been vigilant about moderating the comments section and not allowing personal attacks, we’re getting stricter this year.

The site’s rapid growth over the last few years has meant that we’ve welcomed a large group of new readers to the site who may not be familiar with Cartoon Brew’s community standards. We encourage you to look at them before participating. As another major site put it recently, most commenting guidelines boil down to one simple rule: Don’t be a jerk. If your comments are being consistently deleted, consider that a warning, and assume that you may be banned if you continue posting similar comments that don’t abide by our commenting guidelines.

Just to be clear, Cartoon Brew welcomes comments from everyone: animators, execs, students, fans, anyone. As a community resource, comments are a valuable service that we will continue to provide. Each and every reader has the unique opportunity to take part in an intelligent, civilized exchange of ideas about a wonderful art form, and we want everyone to take advantage of that opportunity without the nonsense that mars many other online forums. While we’ve done a pretty good job so far, there’s still room for improvement.

Finally, if you ever feel that your comment was wrongfully deleted or you wish to report another person’s inappropriate comment, you can send a note here.
