“Milk Crate Sea Dragon”

Been meaning to post this for months – a fun little animated promo for Australia’s Awesome Waste of Time contest website. If anyone knows who directed this – let me know.

(Thanks, Kent Osborne)

  • haha, fricking lovely.
The music is the cherry on top.

  • At 9 seconds in I was intrigued; at 13 seconds I was floored. Thank you for posting this!

Kinda reminds me of a 50’s short subject film from the NAtion Film Board Of Canada called NEIGHBOURS. Awesome promo by the way.

I wonder how many times he had to jump into the pool? I had to re-run this a couple times to make sure that the crates behind him were still changing during the dive. That’s a lot of resets.

  • This is a really great short film! The average viewer would be fooled into thinking it was all animated outdoors “in camera”. However, I believe the animation was done separately and composited over time-lapsed backgrounds. The animated crates are probably not even real objects, but computer generated. I have made a lot of time-lapse and pixilation movies, and to my eyes this film would be “impossible” to shoot in-camera.
