The Big Girl by He Weifeng
August 25, 2010 3:00 am
A film that answers the eternal question: “Will you still love me the same as before if I was a fatty?” This Chinese student-made short, a blend of chalk-drawing animation, 2D and stop-motion is beautifully made, and a heck of a lot of fun. The interactions of the 2D characters with the “real world” props is very good. He Weifeng is a soon-to-be graduate of Guangzhou’s Academy of Art. (Thanks, Russ Handelman) |
wow, that was fun!
I totally fell in love with this short when I first came across it. Funny and engaging all the way through.
If I recall, he was originally going to produce the short entirely in 2D, but later nixed the idea.
Wow, this is great!
It’s what I tried to do with that music video of mine.
I love the chalkwork best.
That was kinda weird, but very enjoyable. I wonder how the animator was able to mesh the animation with real world props.
Cute, inventive and engaging!
I’d love to see more from this guy.
AHHH I LOVE THIS! SO FREAKING GREAT!!!
Fat or trim, that girl comes with some heroic game. Nicely done all around.
Super fun and clever! Reminds me of those old Tiny Little Super Guy shorts on Sesame Street!
Am I the only one who thought the ending was so, so sad… :’(
