Congrats on your nomination, I am surprised that she wasn’t nominated for something before. You’d think someone who has been in the business for so long would get something after a while.

    How wonderful!
I saw her live at the El Capitan a few years back for the release of the restored version of “Cinderella”… and she looked great and it was a joy to hear her talk about her experience in this wonderful project.
June also worked on many of our “Speaking of Animals” Paramount shorts. My favorite was her gripping portrayal of ‘Little Orphan Fanny”… a sweet, innocent (little monkey in a dress) that ‘can’t pay her mortgage’… & the evil Banker(a Snidely Whiplash type monkey, dressed in a black suit with a big mustache) Dirty Dawson, tells her “without the mortgage, he’s going to foreclose & take her house” (How Prescient)… and who could forget June’s famous response… “Oh Woe Is Me, Oh Woe Is Me”.
(Oh and she also played Rocky in this little cartoon “Rocky & Bullwinkle”)…
    ~ Hooray June Foray! ~

James Hong is no spring chicken either (Chinatown, Blade Runner), although he’s not known for voiceover.

    • Steve C.

He’s “KUng Fu Panda”‘s eccentric character goose dad of KFP..actually not bad in that character.

  • Terrence Briggs

Finally! June has HALF as many Emmy nominations as Jackie Chan!

How fortunately we are to be able to savor the spectacular, definitive performances in so many of the best animation of several generations. Much love and best of luck in the Emmy race to Lovely Lady June.

To quote the zany 1966 Sherwood Schwartz sitcom,
    “IT’S ABOUT TIME!”

My favorite June Foray story is that some time in the early 90s when I worked for the Festival of Animation, June spoke to our audience as a special guest. When one audience member asked if she had done any other voices they might recognize, she paused, and deadpanned, “Hello. I’m Talking Tina,” and a shudder went through the crowd, followed by copious laughter.

What a nice and talented woman!

The Garfield Show? So glad to see she’ll go down in history with the respect her illustrious career merits.

Sarcasm aside, it’s really good to see her recognized for something.

Alec Guinness got an Oscar nomination for “Star Wars.” Do you suppose some of his fans felt the same way?

  • James Madison

    …The Garfield Show?
Couldn’t she have been nominated for any of the decent shows she was in?
She has far too much talent to be tied to something as pitiful as The Garfield Show with an Emmy as the knot.

    • Chris Sobieniak

Yeah it does seem a little beneath our expectations but at least it’s something (of course why hasn’t she gotten nominated any other time in the past half-century for that matter).

      • Paul N

Elvis’s only Grammy came from a gospel album. Sean Connery won his only Oscar for The Untouchables. It happens…

    • Steve C.

Good point, but glad she won. ALmost as good would have been if in the early sixties Bea Benadaret and Jean Vanderpyl foir the Flinstones and Janet Waldo, Penny SIngleton and VaNDERpYL FOR THE jETSONS,but the early sixties weren’t as kind, despite HB winning an emmy for Huck Hound.:)

June is not only a great voice talent, she is a great person. I would not want to be her competition right now, there would be a riot if she doesn’t win.

  • Justin

This is awesome! I hope she wins!

  • Joanna

    Very nice!

It ~STUNS~ me that June’s contributions are just now being recognized. FIRST nomination ever??? WOW. Talk about LONG over due. Regardless of whether she wins the award (which I hope she will), we all know she deserves it.

June truly is an amazing talent. We brought her to the Disney Institute in 1998 for The Mulan event (she was Grandma Fa) and she stole the show. Even though she has played tons of straight men (women) characters – June is VERY, VERY funny. The first cel sales were at her house – around her pool.

She helped more people get into the industry than anyone – forget about the Emmys – she should be receiving the Presidential Award for the Arts.
