There's a big feature on early animation pioneer Hy Mayer. It doesn't focus on his animation so much but on his amazing almost M.C. Escher type print cartoons unseen for over 100 years. And there's stuff by Crumb, Rick Griffin, Jimmy Hatlo, Patrick McDonnell, George Cruickshank, Russell Patterson, Milt Gross, Dan DeCarlo, Jack Kirby, etc. The book's all about wacky cartoonists and the "Unholy Marriage Between Comics and Art".Check out Yoe's website for a preview of several pages. It looks very good to me! Arf!
