Anidox:Lab 2020 Anidox:Lab 2020

Applications for Anidox:Lab, a rare training program dedicated to animated documentaries, are now open.

The program consists of two multi-day seminars held in Denmark, in April and August, as well as online consultations. It’s open to directors, producers, and professionals with an animated documentary project in development (projects in hybrid media and new technologies are welcome). Participants develop their idea, visually and narratively, until they have a pitch package and teaser/trailer.

Anidox:Lab is closely associated with award-winning filmmakers Uri and Michelle Kranot (Hollow Land, Nothing Happens), who have been instrumental in running it since its inception. In 2015, we spoke with Uri about the ideas behind the broader Anidox initiative, which also covers residences, masterclasses, and more. It is conducted by The Animation Workshop, Denmark’s leading animation school, in conjunction with the Danish Film Institute, the Swedish Film institute, Viken Filmsenter, CPH:DOX, Nordisk Panorama, and Documentary Campus.

Speakers at this year’s Anidox:Lab include:

  • Uri Kranot, filmmaker, Anidox:Lab tutor
  • Cecilia Lidin, film commissioner, Danish Film Institute
  • Abigail Addison, producer and director, Animate Projects, U.K.
  • Juan Pablo Libossart, documentary film commissioner, Swedish Film Institute
  • Lawrence Marvit, art director and designer
  • Hans Frederik Jacobsen, script consultant and programmer, CPH:DOX

The seminars are conducted in English and the fee is $540 (€500), but scholarships are available. Applications can be made on the official website; the deadline is February 20.
