The Anim’est International Animation Film Festival, established in 2006, has become Bucharest’s most loved film festival and a recognized event on the international animation scene. The presentations, workshops, master-classes and round tables provide the perfect opportunity to get in touch with the latest creations and make contacts. Among the great names who have visited Anim’est, we proudly mention Bill Plympton, Georges Schwizgebel, Juan Pablo Zaramella, John Dilworth, and Mike Reiss.

The festival’s program consists of six competitive sections (international feature film, international short film, Romanian film, student film, video, Minimest), the Mozaic section – presenting the hottest animation short & feature animations in international film festivals and also special sections & retrospectives dedicated to important animation studios, directors, film schools and festivals. Workshops, masterclasses, special parallel events, concerts and parties open to the festival guests and audience. The Anim’est Trophy is presented every year to one of the films competing in the short film competition.

Every year, the Sommets du cinéma d’animation, organized by the Cinémathèque Québécoise, presents the best animated films from Quebec, Canada and elsewhere. The program includes a selection of international titles, a solid line-up of student films directed by young artists representing the future of animation cinema, an overview of Canadian and Quebec production, retrospectives, and activities for young audiences.

In addition to screenings, the Sommets du cinéma d’animation offers a range of special activities. The festival hosts a series of original and eclectic events: exhibits, performances, discussion forums with directors and artisans, workshops, film classes, entertaining and rewarding sessions with animation professionals and renowned guests, and festive evening activities.

Part conference and part festival, SPARK ANIMATION thrives on bringing together industry experts with newcomers, and that principle extends into the festival which provides a showcase for both established filmmakers and fresh new talent. With an eclectic mix of styles and languages, SPARK ANIMATION has become the premiere animation festival in Vancouver.

SPARK ANIMATION 2015 will feature a series of regional, national and international short and feature films, filmmaker workshops and mixers.

We are looking for animated projects from all over the world:

Note: Hybrid projects (animation and live-action) and projects using advanced imaging technologies such as Stereoscopic 3D, HFR, UltraHD, are also accepted but may be considered for SPARK FWD 2016 at the discretion of the jury. Our other festival will run in early 2016.
