Sony Pictures released today the first teaser for the upcoming sequel to 2016’s The Angry Birds Movie, based on the popular mobile game.

The newly released trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 2 introduces a new character, Zeta (voiced by Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones), a purple-feathered bird who lives in a frozen island and seems to be fed up with the cold weather. Zeta is said to be the movie’s villain who will confront both the flightless birds and pigs who live in more tropical climate.

Produced by Finnish game maker Rovio Entertainment and Columbia Pictures, The Angry Birds Movie 2 was directed by Thurop Van Orman (creator, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack), with John Rice (King of the Hill, Rick and Morty) serving as co-director. John Cohen, who produced the The Angry Birds Movie, returned as producer, while Peter Ackerman (FX’s The Americans, Ice Age) wrote the screenplay. Sony Pictures will distribute the sequel.

Sony Pictures Imageworks handled the animation in collaboration with of Sony Pictures Animation. Production designer Pete Oswald and character art director Francesca Natale return from the first movie to handle the same roles.

Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, and Peter Dinklage reprised their leading roles as part of a larger voice cast that now includes Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther), Mexican comedian Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), Zach Woods (The Post), Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Dove Cameron (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Beck Bennett (SNL), and Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project).

The first installment in The Angry Birds Movie franchise opened May 2016 in the U.S. and went on to make $352 million at worldwide box office. It debuted at no. 1 in 50 countries, including the United States.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 will open in U.S. theaters on August 16, ahead of the original game’s 10th anniversary.
