New ‘Scooby-Doo’ Live Stage Show To Incorporate Puppets, Actors, Dance, Aerial Arts, And Video Mapping

Warner Bros and Montreal, Canada-based Monlove have partnered to produce the original live-entertainment show Scooby-Doo and the Lost City of Gold, based on the Hanna-Barbera creation Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

The high-tech production will combine puppetry, live actors, magic, original music, dance, original music, aerial arts, interactive video, and video mapping, the show will be presented in large-scale theaters that can accommodate all its elements. The production, which will tell a brand-new story based on the beloved quintet of myster solvers, is slated to premiere in March 2020, and will travel the globe in a five-year tour that’ll cover over 30 countries.

Monlove’s Ella Louise Allaire and Martin Lord Ferguson are in charge of the show’s original concept, book, music, and lyrics. The duo was previously behind the live show Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure, based on Blue Sky’s franchise, which toured 48 countries, was translated in 12 languages, and grossed over $100 million. Monlove also produced The Nut Job Live & Friends adapted from the animated features by South Korean animation producer Redrover, and served as music producers and composers for several Cirque du Soleil shows including Mystère, Alegria and Saltimbanco.

Pierre Boileau, who helmed Nut Job Live, will direct the Scooby-Doo and the Lost City of Gold live show, with technical design and sets being handled by Guy-St-Amour (Cirque du Soleil’s Mystère, Love, Viva Elvis, and Michael Jackson, as well as Wagner the Ring Cycle at the Met Opera).

In addition to Scooby-Doo and the Lost City of Gold, the classic cartoon gang will also be seen on the big screen next year in the animated feature Scoob!, which is slated to premiere in U.S. theaters on May 15, 2020.
