Universal has shared an early look at the How to Train Your Dragon section of its Orlando theme park, which is scheduled to open next year.

The Isle of Berk is based on the hugely popular Dreamworks Animation franchise, itself based on the same-named kids books by Cressida Cowell, that has grossed $1.63 billion at the global box office across three films. The property has also been adapted into several animated series and specials.

According to Universal:

Here, guests will see what it’s like to live amongst dragons as they explore a larger-than-life world that includes exciting attractions, beloved character meet-and-greets, dining, shopping – and even flying dragons.

The new HTTYD “land” is one of five sections being developed by the park; others include Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, and Dark Universe.

The Isle of Berk is being developed in partnership with Universal Creative and art directors at Dreamworks Animation and Universal Pictures. It will feature a pair of 40-foot-tall Viking statues, three new rides, a live show, an interactive play area, character meet-and-greets, Viking-themed restaurants and amenities, and tons of themed merchandise.

Universal has big real-life plans for a number of Dreamworks most popular animated properties, and last year July announced a new themed land based on DWA characters from Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda that will open this summer.
